This was a guest host (Tammy Bruce) for the Laura Ingraham radio show. No matter what your political beliefs are, this was totally unacceptable. These comments bordered on racist/bigoted.

The personal attacks by the "conservative" right talk show hosts have to stop. They are agitating the crack-pots in America. You can disagree with the President's politics, but personal attacks and disrespect toward him and his family have no place on the public airwaves.

Read this article and listen to this woman and her attack on Michelle Obama. Very sad. As background, Mrs. Obama was talking with a class of inner city Washington D.C. school children. I can think of few other people that would be a better role model for these children.

I will not be supporting any station that carries the Laura Ingram radio show. In Grand Rapids that would be WPNW 1260 AM. I hope that you will do likewise. ( http://is.gd/nUMU ) I am not sure that people understand that it is not just one thing that is creating the problem. There are many factors influencing our current economic crisis. People seem to be reacting to the news media and their current finger pointing. This week it is AIG. The problem is it is not just AIG.

We need to be patient folks. We got in this mess through across the board deregulation. It is a combination of factors that have contributed to the economic meltdown. This problem will not be solved by next week. The silence of the Treasury Secretary is not surprising. This is too complex of a problem to address easily.

This will turn around. We need to have faith that the administration will get things moving in the proper direction over the next year. We need to concern ourselves with looking at the macro and not the micro.

John Cronyn and Obstructionist Politics

One day into the Obama Administration and we find the Senate Republicans have taken their que from the Republican Legislative group in Michigan. For the last several years in Michigan the Legislative Republicans have done everything they could to keep Governor Granholm from making any headway in getting Michigan turned around from former Governor Engler's mess. For her, I am sure it has been extremely frustrating. Michigan Republicans only goal has been to make the Governor look ineffective. They have shown little regard for the good of the citizens of the state of Michigan. It has been a very effective tactic even though it has had a negative effect in Michigan.

We are starting to see this same tactic carried out in Washington. Senator John Cronyn a Republican from Texas forced a full vote of the Senate to confirm Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State. On Tuesday, he objected to a voice vote for confirmation forcing the vote today. Hillary Clinton was confirmed today by a vote of 94 to 2. Senator John Cronyn voted for her confirmation. This was an obstructionist move on his part. If he truly had objections, he would have voted against her confirmation. His primary goal was to throw a speed bump into the path of the new administration. He managed to place a one day delay into one of the most important cabinet posts for the new administration. It does not matter that we have Iraq, Afghanistan, Gaza, etc.

Today, Senator Cronyn managed to create a one week delay in the appointment of Eric Holder as Attorney General. The bottom line, this was purely an obstructionist move. Eric Holder will be confirmed for the position of Attorney General. However, the Obama administration will have to wait a week for this post to be filled. Give the man credit, he has managed to single-handedly stifle the Democratic agenda. It serves no purpose at all. This is just the start, Cronyn will be around for the next four years plus two since he was just returned to office for his second term last November.

By the way, for those keeping track, the two nay votes for Hillary Clinton were Senators Jim DeMint (R-SC) and David Vitter (R-LA).

We are now at the mercy of our kids.

It came earlier than we expected. Laurie and I now know what it will be like when we hit our late eighties. WE ARE BOTH A COUPLE OF INVALIDS! You see, Laurie wiped out her right knee and cannot drive. I had shoulder surgery which was worse than expected and cannot drive. We have to depend on our kids for everything. Just put us on an iceberg and float us out to sea.

Kids have to drive us everywhere and do almost everything for us. Thank god for Jen and Ryan. I am sure they are sick of it. I am tired of being stuck in the house, staring at the four walls. I think I have even started to drool on my shirt. Do you have any idea how humbling it is to have to have someone cut your food for you? At least I still have my teeth and don't have to be like the Ferengi and have Laurie chew it for me before I eat it. Laurie is embarassed having to use her walker. I have offered to put a bell and a basket on it for her.

On the up side, the drugs are good, plus we get to have a handicap sticker for the car. We don't have the handicap sticker yet because we haven't been able to get anybody to drive us to the Secretary of State's office. But someday...
